Duane Boyer, Senior Pastor

Born and raised in Central PA, Duane trusted Christ as his Savior at the age of 5 one night after family devotions. Upon graduating from Christian school in 1990, the Lord led him to pursue Youth Ministries at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. It was during his sophomore year at PCC that he met his future wife, Sharon Tesseneer, after spotting her in one of his Literature classes! After graduating from PCC in 1994, Duane and Sharon taught and served together at a Christian school in Georgia while being engaged. They were married in 1995 and just celebrated 25 years of marriage in June of 2020. After working and teaching in Christian schools in Georgia and North Carolina for five years, the Lord directed the Boyers to Asheville, North Carolina, in 1999, where Duane became the youth pastor and 7-12th grade Bible teacher at Temple Baptist Church and School. He served 21 years as youth pastor and teacher before stepping down in August of 2020. The Lord directed the Boyers to IBC and in September of 2020 Duane accepted the Senior pastorate of IBC. In his spare time, Duane enjoys the great outdoors, visiting flea markets and antique stores, and cheering on Pennsylvania sports teams! Sharon was born and raised in Shelby, North Carolina, and thought she was saved as a young girl after making a profession of faith. During her sophomore year at PCC, she saw her need of salvation and called upon the Lord to save her. After graduating from PCC, Sharon taught elementary school for four years before having children. She has faithfully served alongside her husband for twenty-five years as a Christian schoolteacher, youth pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher, and much more! Sharon enjoys Chai tea at Dunkin, shopping (of course!), cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and decorating their home. The Lord has blessed the Boyers with three beautiful girls . . . Lauren, Jenna, and Emily.
